Welcome to the IDI Help Center

The Intercultural Development Inventory in American Sign Language (ASL)

The IDI is fully accessible in American Sign Language (ASL). All instructions and items, including optional demographic questions, are available in ASL.

Within the assessment, respondents may choose to view one of four ASL interpreters. The use of multiple Deaf interpreters provides a variety of options for users to choose their preferred signing style.

The IDI was translated into ASL in partnership with Gallaudet University and went through a rigorous back translation processes to ensure accuracy.

Tips for Respondents

  1. The instructions for completing the IDI are above the interpreter selection. If you'd like to change the interpreter for the instructions, scroll to the bottom of the first page to choose a different interpreter.
  2. You can also click forward on the video for each instruction or item to cycle through the 4 interpreter choices if you'd like to view a different interpreter for a particular item.
